Telemundo announced today the appointment of Ken Wilkey to the position of senior vice president of Telemundo Network Broadcast Operations, based in Hialeah, Fla., effective immediately.

The announcement was made by Derek Bond, executive vice president of Telemundo Studios & Broadcast Operations, to whom Wilkey will report. Wilkey will also have a dotted line reporting relationship to John Wallace, executive vice president, Television Operations and Production Services for NBC Universal.

In his newly created role for Telemundo, Wilkey will oversee all network broadcast operations, production services including scenery and program editing. Wilkey will focus on the continuing growth of Spanish-language network's broadcast operations, specifically as the national broadcaster transitions into new technologies and continues to build on new digital growth platforms.

Wilkey was previously senior vice president of technology for NBC and Telemundo Television Stations, where he led technology efforts for all NBC and Telemundo stations.

During his tenure in this role, Wilkey was responsible for all digital build-outs to meet FCC compliance for Telemundo Stations, oversaw the recently completed Telemundo Production Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and launched laptop editing and wireless transmissions of new content while in the field, among other critical implementations.

Prior to his role at NBC and Telemundo Television Stations, Wilkey was at CBS where he worked in technical operations for three stations. While at CBS, Wilkey was a member of the CBS New Technology board and was responsible for the installation of the first Citycams for the network's Chicago station.
