FCC GREENLIGHTS WEIGEL'S MILWAUKEE BUY
The FCC has given the go-ahead for Weigel Broadcasting to purchase WJJA Milwaukee from Joel Kinlow for $7 million.
Weigel Executive Vice President Neal Sabin declined to unveil the plans for WJJA, other than to say it would be programmed in English to complement Weigel's other stations in the market—a full-power CBS affiliate (WDJT), a low-power independent (WMLW) and a low-power Telemundo affiliate (WYTU).
Weigel has two other clusters of stations. In Chicago, it operates full-power independent WCIU along with two low-power stations, one independent (WWME) and one foreign-language (WFBT).
In South Bend, Ind., it owns three low-power stations—WBND, WCWW and WMYS affiliated with ABC, CW and MNT, respectively.
Kinlow, the sole owner of WJJA, has no other broadcast TV interests.
