NAB POSTPONES DTV PRESS CONFERENCE
Never mind. The NAB late Friday postponed a planned Monday press conference, at which it was to announce what it called “an unprecedented consumer education marketing effortâ to inform TV viewers about the DTV transition and the Feb. 17, 2009, analog cut off.
A spokeswoman for the NAB task force heading up the awareness campaign said the press conference was rescheduled after some members of the "community of broadcasters" indicated that they wanted to have a presence and speaking role at the event. She declined to say whom the miffed broadcasters were.
NAB President David Rehr and Barrington Broadcasting CEO Jim Yager were to have presided at Monday's press conference.
They had planned to showcase the "DTV Trekker," the centerpiece of an upcoming DTV road show that will travel to more than 600 locations nationwide beginning this fall.
