Story continues after the ad

Get Ready for Digital TV explains what it is, why it’s happening and what viewers need to do to get ready for the change during the next year.

WNBC says the program lays out the various options viewers will have to bring the HD digital signal into their home via cable, satellite, phone line or over-the-air. Included will be a demonstration on how to install a converter box, a list of retail locations where they can be purchased and directions on how viewers can get discount coupons from the government to help pay for the boxes.

The special also breaks down the basic differences between digital television set choices including plasma, LCD, front and rear projection, etc.

In addition to airing on WNBC, Get Ready for Digital TV will be broadcast on the NBC Local Media Division stations across the country which include KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, WRC Washington, WTVJ Miami, KNSD San Diego, WVIT Hartford-New Haven, Conn., KXAS Dallas-Ft. Worth and KNTV San Jose, Calif.
