LIN TV Corp. today announced that Les Garrenton has been promoted to director, engineering/broadcast systems.
Garrenton will be responsible for evaluating new broadcast technologies and applications for LIN 29 television stations, overseeing broadcast studio systems integration and implementation, researching technology that will improve LIN TV stations' efficiency and productivity and sharing in the oversight of LIN stations' day-to-day engineering operations. His broadcasting career began with LIN in 1980, and since then, he has served in a number of different engineering positions.
Garrenton received his Bachelors of Science degree in electrical engineering technology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
"Les brings nearly 30 years of valuable experience and dedication to this position," said Viall. "The engineering projects he managed at WAVY and WVBT have significantly contributed to the operating strength and efficiency of the stations, and our company as a whole. I look forward to working with Les in his new corporate position at LIN TV."
