NAB DECLARES WHITE SPACE PROPONENTS 'OUT'
The National Association of Broadcasters and the Association for Maximum Service Television (MSTV) today launched a new print advertising campaign to highlight the repeated malfunctions that have resulted during the FCC’s testing of unlicensed, personal-portable devices.
The advertisements are running in several Capitol Hill publications this week, including Congress Daily, Roll Call, Politico, Congressional Quarterly, Communications Daily and The Hill and are headlined: “It’s one, two, three strikes you’re out.”
The ad goes on to state:
“At least that’s how it works in baseball.
“It should be the same for the Wireless Innovation Alliance and Microsoft. This is the third time a Microsoft unlicensed device ceased to function in FCC testing. It is not alone; the other devices being tested by the FCC have not reliably detected broadcast signals and wireless microphones in the lab.
“If the devices fail in pristine lab conditions, can you really trust them in the real world?
“After spending billions on the digital television transition, American consumers deserve to see the game without interference. Keep our signals clear. Oppose interference from unlicensed devices."Copyright 2008 TV Newsday, Inc. All rights reserved.
