Jim Berman New GM of WVEC Norfolk
Belo Corp. announced today that James R. Berman has been named president and general manager of WVEC, its ABC affiliate in Hampton-Norfolk, Va. (DMA 42) beginning Aug. 4.
He will join WVEC from Newport Television's Harrisburg, Pa., duopoly of WHP-WLYH where he has been vice president and general manager since November 2006.
Berman previously was vice president and general manager of WSAV Savannah, Ga., from 2003 to 2006 and of WETM Elmira, N.Y., from 2001 to 2003.
He will report to Kathy Clements, Belo's senior vice president/television operations.
Berman has more than 25 years of television industry experience. Before becoming a general manager, he held various positions including director of programming and research at WBBM Chicago, research director at WGAL Lancaster, Pa., and sales and research positions with Group Television Sales in New York, Katz Sports in New York and Katz American Television, also in New York.
Berman earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rutgers University where he also was general manager of WRSU-FM.
