Katz Names MacCourtney Head of Eagle
Media representation firm Katz Media Group Inc. today announced that its Katz Television Group has named Leo MacCourtney as president of Eagle Television. MacCourtney will take over for Michael Hugger, who will resume his position as executive vice president for the Katz Television Group.
MacCourtney previously held the title of executive vice president of agency and advertiser relations for the Katz Television Group. He joined Katz TV last year after a 26-year career at Blair Television, where he was president from 1998 to 2007.
"Leo's vast experience and understanding of the television business makes him an exceptional choice to become Eagle's next President," said Jim Beloyianis, president of the Katz Television Group. "He's built a tremendous track record in his many years in the industry and I am confident that his extraordinary ability to deliver results will help Eagle achieve its next level of growth."
Eagle Television provides national sales representation for more than 40 major television stations, with a number of ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC affiliates that reach over 30 percent of all TV households. Eagle said it maintains the shortest list of major market stations among national representation firms in the broadcasting industry.
MacCourtney started in the Blair Television training program in 1981 and worked his way up to sales manager of its ABC team in 1985. He became director of sales for the ABC Group in 1988, president of Blair USA in 1994 and president-CEO of Blair Television four years later.
