About the Directory

Our TV station directory includes all full-power TV stations within the 50 states now on the FCC books. By our count, there are 1,722 such stations and 482 separate owners/licensees. The station count includes satellite stations that merely rebroadcast the signal of another station. Over time, we hope to subtract the satellite stations and add significant Class A and low-power stations, especially those affiliated with broadcast networks, and stations in the U.S. territories. This will provide a truer picture of broadcasting in the U.S.

Our immediate goal is to list at least the general manager, news director and chief engineer of each station. Later, when we feel we have the resources to properly maintain it, we hope to expand the personnel listings to include sales managers and other key employees.

As you might imagine, maintaining a database of more than 1,700 stations with broadcasters changing jobs and stations changing owners all the time is a difficult task.
