The television business in the U.S. is dominated by six companies, ranked here by annual revenue. They control most of the program production and much of the distribution through networks, TV stations and cable and satellite systems. With the exception of NBC and Viacom, they have other significant assets. Time Warner, for instance, owns AOL. Disney, of course, has the theme parks. Some would also include Comcast on this list because it is the largest operator of cable systems. We don't because its programming assets are small relative to the six.
